Finished a couple of large paintings - - I work on these big things for months or years, sometimes having them rolled up until I finally hang them up with the idea of adding something to them and deciding that no in fact they are done. The two I finished are 70"x 60" or so. They are unstretched on canvas.
One of them "Cage Of Wild Beasts" I started in 1994, the original studies were done in October of 94, the canvas I probably didn't start until early 1995. I don't think I did anything to it since early 1996 but I unrolled it yesterday, hung it up, and signed it.
I also did painted studies based on the original studies for "Cage Of Wild Beasts".
I wanted to include both of the large paintings, the other one is called "I Still Love You" and is my Basquiat inspired painting, in the show.
As it turned out I only was able to hang "I Still Love You", 4 of the "Studies For Cage Of Wild Beasts" (I didn't hang numbers 2 and 5) and 4 of the "Studies From Cage Of Wild Beasts".
